Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in cost estimation, project management, and ensuring contractual obligations are met. Below is a detailed overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for this role:
Responsibilities
- Project Analysis:
- Prepare detailed worksheet analyses and categorize tasks for project proposals.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure alignment with tender and project specifications.
- Submit consolidated Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in the required client format.
- Cost Management:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for various project phases.
- Provide advice on potential cost overruns and recommend actions to stay within budget.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project teams to ensure accurate records of measurements, variations, and contractual matters.
- Attend meetings and initiate contractual correspondence to protect the company’s interests.
- Material and Financial Oversight:
- Perform material take-offs prior to purchase requisitions and report discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the Project Accountant and Cost Control Engineer to prepare financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and manage financial matters related to on-site work.
- Post-Contract Duties:
- Handle measurements, variation orders, site design changes, interim valuations, and final accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of agreed rates with client representatives.
- Examine subcontractor invoices for compliance and advise project management on payments.
- Technology Utilization:
- Use computer-aided programs for preparing contract documents and ensuring efficiency.

- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in all surveying methods and software commonly used in construction and related projects.
- In-depth understanding of building and construction technologies, materials, and processes.
- Organizational Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with flexibility to adapt to changing plans.
- Communication:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and explain complex information simply.
- Financial Acumen:
- Strong numeracy and financial management capabilities.
- Experience in evaluating costs and supplier networks in the Nigerian market.
- Technology Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying from a reputable institution (minimum upper second-class).
- Registration with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying.
- In-depth knowledge of the Nigerian market, including supplier networks and material availability.
